FYA, SHS parents drub foes in Friendship Cup cagefest

CEBU – The F. Llamas Youth Association (FYA) and the Sacred Heart School Parents Association scored contrasting victories at the start of the 1st FYA Friendship Cup at the Atillo gym in Brgy. Punta Princesa, this city.

In the opener, Carl Rama sank a triple with eight-tenths of a second left in the game to vault the FYA cagers to an 88-87 nail-biter over the Tri J Marketing-sponsored Don Bosco. The game went close all the way in after FYA posted a 46-36 lead at halftime.

Viking Rollon led FYA with 23 points followed by Daniel Enriquez with 17 points. Rama, who hit the winning triple, finished with 12 points.

In the other game, the Sacred Heart Parents Association defeated the Sherilyn Plastics, 82-76.

FYA hopes to make it 2-0 when it takes on the Sherilyn Plastics as of this writing last night, while the Sacred Heart Parents will go up against Tri J-Don Bosco.

Former UV Lancer Jaymar Canoy, now one of the coaching staff of the SHS-Jesuit SBP-Passarelle Team, topscored with 22 points, while his former UV teammate Jaysar Esperat chipped in 15 markers.

FYA organizer Britt Carlo Reroma, the San Beda Red Cubs coach, donated 13 points for the Sacred Heart Parents Association where he serves as consultant.

Elro Cañete paced Sherilyn Plastics with 22 points, while Anton Colminares and John Liway had 12 and 10 points, respectively. (GGM) (THE FREEMAN)
