3rd Motosuit moto-x series winds up in Carcar Sunday
CEBU - For the first time in three years, the annual MS Motosuit Motocross Series comes to close before its regular schedule in December with the staging of the 14th and final leg this Sunday in Carcar.
Dubbed as the 2nd Carcar City Motocross Mayor’s Challenge, the slambang event that will surely draw another mammoth crowd will take place at the Ramona’s Recreational and Multi-Purpose Center .
This Sunday’s spectacle co-presented by Imarflex Evvo Battery Manufacturing and Castrol is supposed to be the penultimate leg, but San Fernando, which hosted the final leg during the past two years, begged off this time as the race course owned by motocross patron Nonoy Reluya had already been utilized for another purpose.
Inspite of that, the riders are still looking forward to the year-ending tilt with excitement. They are expected to figure in an intense battle as they hope to rake in as many points possible needed for the final standings.
Promising Cebuano daredevil John Flores, who was among those who graced the launching of the final leg the other night at the residence of MS Motosuit big boss Lou Ornopia, admitted that it’s really going to be a tough Sunday.
The 15-year-old Flores said he prepared hard for the Carcar show as he wants to save his best for last and make up from his not-so impressive performances in the past legs.
Save for the pro race that is specially inserted when MS Motosuit image model Glenn Aguilar comes over to compete, each division will have an overall champion, who are all contenders for the coveted “Rider of the Year” award.
The top performers of this year’s series will formally be feted in a grand awards night next month at the Grand Convention Center of Cebu. Event organizer Lou Ornopia purposely done this so that the month of January will already serve as the kick-off stage of MS Motosuit’s calendar of activities for 2009.
Next year, the MS Motosuit series will definitely get better and bigger as Ornopia will also organize a supercross and motard competitions aside from the regular motocross action as the newly-minted racetrack in Consolacion. (THE FREEMAN)
