CEBU – An explosive cast of runners is guaranteed to make the 2nd Holiday Gym and Spa “Run to the Max” an explosive race.
The first 10-miler competition in Cebu fires off today at 6:00 a.m. at the parking lot of Holiday Gym and Spa in Banilad.
Former Milo marathon national record holder Cresencio Sabal leads the men’s open division. He will be contending for top honors against Elmer Bartolo, the reigning Sinulog Half-Marathon champion.
The men’s division is deep with talent, including Nonoy Jopson, former national triathlon record-holder, Mendel Lopez, 4th placer in the 10K division of the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon, Eugene and Joel Delposo, Reinz Enriquez and Philip Duenas.
Former national team member Ailyn Tolentino is the favorite in the women’s division but will be meeting stiff challenge from Cebu’s best in Lezl Getaruelas, 4th placer in this year’s Kota Kinabalu Climbaton, Madelyn Carter, Milo Marathon Cebu leg winner, Merlita Arias, Kota Kinabalu veteran and Millete Chiongbian, 3rd placer in the Milo Marathon Cebu leg.
The champions in the both the men’s and women’s open will receive P7,000, second placers go home with P3,000 and third placers will get P2,000. Fourth placers will receive P1,000 and fifth placers are assured of P500. The champions in the 5K run will get P3,000, second placers P2,000, third placers P1,000, fourth P500 and fifth placers P200. All participants will get running singlets and race numbers.
