Oslob records 2 straight victories in GUV Cup v'ball

CEBU – Oslob, the top squad in their sub-cluster last year, opened their bid in the 4th Governor Gwen Garcia Unity Volleyball Cup For Women with back-to-back victories in the cluster 2-A action yesterday in Samboan.

Oslob whipped Ginatilan, 25-19, 25-18 and then mauled Santander, 25-16, 25-19.

Before meeting Oslob, Santander survived a tough three-set battle against host Samboan, 25-13, 20-25, 25-15.

Boljoon, one of the favorites in their cluster, also lived up to expectations after pulling away a 25-20, 25-17 triumph over Malabuyoc.

Malabuyoc made up from that setback and vented its ire on Ginatilan, 25-9, 25-17.

Action will resume today featuring Ginatilan versus Samboan, Oslob against Boljoon and Malabuyoc opposite Santander. In the afternoon session, Santander tackles Ginatilan, Malabuyoc battles Samboan, Boljoon faces Ginatilan and Oslob clashes with Samboan.

The top squad in the sub-cluster will advance to the cluster 2 championship next week. The cluster 2-B phase of this Cebu Volleyball Association (CEVA)-organized event will be done in Moalboal where Badian will begin its title defense. — Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (FREEMAN NEWS)
