Loyola wins Talisay blitz chess

Venancio Loyola captured the inaugural title of the Talisay Monthly Chess Blitz at the Talisay South Central Square in Brgy. Lawaan II.

Roberto Quiros landed as first runner-up  followed by Joselito Loques. Francisco Nebria and Dennis Navales were at joint fourth and fifth with identical 3.5 points.

In the kiddies category, Kyle Sevillano and John Francis Balbonsa shared the champion’s trophy after finishing with the same points at the end of the tournament.

Jessa Marie Balbona, on the other hand, grabbed the Top Lady Special Award after outsmarting Carmel Loques and Pauline Irish Cabalda, who occupied the second and third spots, respectively.

The tournament was organized by the Talisay Chess Club headed by its president Atty. Richard Abangan. The rest of the club’s officers are Atty. Jongjong Melendrez (vice president), Atty. Lorenzo Zafico (auditor) and Engr. Gamaliel Vicente (immediate former president and director).

The next edition of the monthly tilt is set on September 20-21 at the same venue.
