Shipping lines rout foes in Vic Enterprises hoop

Golden Lines Shipping and Unilink Shipping sank their respective rivals in the Vic Enterprises Invitational basketball tournament at the CEC gym.

Golden Lines of George Uy buried Ave Maria Sanctuary Park in overtime, 132-118, while Unilink demolished Boysen Paints, 105-87.

Staring defeat with a 109-112 deficit in the dying seconds of the regulation period, former USP Panther Elvis Labares saved the day for the Golden Lines as he hit a crucial triple to tie the score at 112-all with two seconds left to play, thus, the overtime.

In the extra five-minute period, it was an all-Golden Lines show as it succeeded in clamping down Ave Maria’s offense with its stifling defense.

Alex Cainglet scattered 35 points, while Labares banged in 25 markers as Golden Lines notched its second win in five starts.Aris Jayme and Randy de la Pisa chipped in 18 points apiece.

Ex-pro Marlon Piodo scored a game-high 36 points for Ave Maria followed by Ian Desuyo with 20.

On the other hand, Norwin Baclay scored 23 and Ramil Aniñon had 19 points as Unilink chalked up its second consecutive victory in as many games. Chris Matunog had 23 points for Boysen, which is still without a win in two games.
