Cebu’s Tabotabo sizzles in California tennis tourney

It’s mission accomplished for promising Cebuano netter Vince Marc Tabotabo as he reigned supreme in the boys 12-under of the 2008 Twin Arbors Junior Open at the Twin Arbors Athletic Club in Lodi, North California.

Tabotabo, the fast-rising racquet-wielder from Tuburan, Cebu, dumped seeded no.3 Kyle Lin of Sta.Rosa California in the final round, 7-5, 6-3.

Heading in the championship match, Tabotabo gained enough measure of confidence and motivation as he ousted the top-ranked Jacob Zetlin in spectacular fashion, 6-0, 6-0.

The title was Tabotabo’s third in the United States. He won his other crowns in the 2008 Little Mo Sectionals in Folsom and then in the Laguna Creek Junior Open in Elk Groove also in California.

The Cebu Vice Governor Greg Sanchez-supported Tabotabo was accompanied in his US trip by his ever supportive father Titus, once a multi-titled player during his prime.—Caecent No-ot Magsumbol
