Nine players advance in Milo tennis event

-

Nine netters under the unisex 10-under class made a good start in the Cebu leg of the 2008 Milo Age-Group Tennis Championships yesterday at the Cebu Country Club tennis courts.

Carl Cathedral silenced Dan Miguel Sesaldo, 6-0, 6-0, Zimply Mae Alferez kicked out Jeanbert Dungog, 6-1, 6-2, while John Godfrey Seno defeated Arthur Greg Santino, 6-3, 6-0.

Joseph Singson, for his part, denied Sheena Camporedondo from making a memorable debut with a 6-0, 6-1 rout, while Dereck Tabotabo slammed Andrew Senabre, 6-1, 6-1.

Joshua Kinaadman dumped Rafael Arfon, 6-1, 6-0, Christopher Encarnacion pulled away a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Manuel Lopez, Clyde Dojale drubbed John Mark Abad, 6-1, 6-0, while Jason Lauron defeated Lissa Rose Lopez, 6-0, 6-1.

Over at Villa Aurora, seven netters also advanced to the second round but without breaking out a sweat as they enjoyed a first round bye in the boys 16-under.

They are General Santos City’s Princeton and Kurt Gerapusco, San Carlos City’s Kristoff Carmona and Cebu’s Paulo Senabre, Jayvee Canoy, Arbee Fuentes and Amiel Ayaay.

The Milo action is one of the three age-group competitions sanctioned by Philta within the month. The rest are the Gullas Cup and the Prince Age-Group. –Caecent No-ot Magsumbol
