Inspired by her latest exposure abroad, Cebuana tennis princess Sally Mae Siso returned to the country in triumphant fashion at the start of the Truflex Age-Group Tennis Championships yesterday at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex tennis courts in Manila.
Siso opened her championship campaign with a decisive 6-1, 6-1 victory over Jana Hernandez in the second round. Thus, the University of San Carlos (USC) varsity player advanced to the quarterfinal round against a still undetermined foe.
Siso recently competed in an ITF event in Jakarta, Indonesia where she settled for 12th place among 28 entries.
If plans don’t miscarry, Siso will undergo another training abroad together with his brother Niño.
Before training overseas, Sally Mae will utilize her summer vacation by competing in different competitions as she will be missing the 2008 Palarong Pambansa due to her failure to join the Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVIRAA) Meet in Tagbilaran City. — Caecent No-ot Magsumbol
