Cebuano bets compete in HK marathon this am

The Cebuano runners hope and pray they would come up with a decent showing in one of the world’s most popular marathon events, the 2008 Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon early this morning at the Victoria Park of the former British colony.

A total of 15 long-distance running buffs from Cebu are joing the race, something that had not been done before.

Leading Cebu’s campaign are the region’s acknowledged “Queen of the Road” Leiszl Lumindas-Getaruelas and top male bet Mendel Lopez.

Getaruelas is set to compete in the 21km half-marathon where she has a big chance of winning, while Lopez will take part in the 10k category for the same reason.

Completing the Cebu contingent to the HK tile are Drs. Vic Verallo, Albert Santos, Yong Larrazabal, Peter Mancao, Pons del Parado, and Nicole Chua , Jesse Taborada, Meyrick Jacalan, Ted Tecson,  Serge Amora, Tony del Prado, and Cebu City Sports Commissioner John Pages. — Caecent No-ot Magsumbol
