The University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Jaguars took advantage of a fourth quarter collapse by the Southwestern University (SWU) Cobras to score a 95-85 comeback victory last night in the La Fortuna II Cup at the Cebu Coliseum.
Games today:
(Talisay gym)
7 pm SIT vs. SWU
8:30 pm USJR vs. ACT
The win put the Jaguars on top of the standing with a 3-0 slate. Only a blow-out loss to the Asian College of Technology tonight will prevent the Jaguars from advancing to the one-game final.
Southwestern University Cobras were in control of the ballgame and were ahead 73-65 entering the final period when the Jaguars made a run and crept to within 82-83. A booming triple by Lyndon Gudez made it 85-83 and the Jaguars took control from then on as the Cobras folded.
The Cobras (2-1) will try to gain the other final seat when they play Salazar College-Salazar Institute of Technology (CS-SIT) in the first game of the twinbill tonight.
Should USJ-R lose and SWU win, then a triple tie ensue between USJ-R, SWU and SC-SIT. The tie will be broken via the quotient system.
Meanwhile, the ACT Cyber Knights beat the University of San Carlos 84-76, the other day, to keep their title hopes alive should they prevail against USJ-R.
