Diu-Caminade tandem bags 7th Island Tee overall title
The tandem of Walter Diu and Joel Caminade bagged the overall title in the 7th Island Tee of the Mactan Island Golf Club over the weekend.
The pair scored a total of 86 points in the Modified Stableford Scoring System with Caminade shooting eight-under-par 44 and
The overall title for the four-day 18-hole competition was awarded to the team that made the most points.
The class A title went to the tandem of Eric Sendrijas and Andrew Cañete with a combined effort of 82 points. Sendrijas made 44 and Cañete added 38.
First runner-up for the premiere handicap class went to Wendell Yap (40) and Hyung Chung Myun (35) with 75 points while second runner-up was the duo of Roger Lo (38) and Loloy Sabuga (35) with a total of 73.
Capt. Randy Campos and Capt. Kim Eric Agatep, both Philippine Airforce pilots, ruled class B with a total of 78 points.
The first runner-up team for class B was composed of Dr. Ernesto Cabahug (30) and Dr. Panfilo Tremedal (45) with 75 points while second runner-up was the team of Renee Tariman (42) and Leonardo Arevalo (32) with 74.
For Class C1, Fred Melgo (44) and Joe Morales (32) won the title with their combined output of 76 points.
Col. Edgardo Mendoza (39) and Mario Bancale (34) finished second with 73 points while third place went to Benjamin Solon (34) and Winston Gomez (37) with 71 points.
The champion for class C2 was the duo of Delon Abad (39) and Bobby Andrade (35) with 74 points. Second place honors went to Jesselito Baring (41) and Raoul Polancos (31) with 72 while Col. Danilo Ferrer (30) and Maj. Alfred Senosa (34) finished third.
Pete Cantillas and Felipe Ventulan topped the seniors’ division for tandems whose members are both aged 61 years old or older. Cantillas fired 38 points while Ventulan made 33 for a total of 71 points and a win via the countback.
First runner-up was the tandem of Atty. Edgar Gica (40) and Rolly Carpio (31) also with 71 points while second runner-up was the tandem of Archt. Ramon Escario (37) and Rodrigo Gurrea (32) with 69 points.
A special award for best in costume went to the tandem of Takahiro and Leonito Toda.
