UC-Blue Marlins continue to sizzle in Silliman Founder’s Day swimfest

The University of Cebu-Blue Marlins Swimming Club hauled nine more golds, 15 silvers and seven bronzes to keep their bid for a remarkable comeback in the 2007 Silliman University Founder’s Day Age-group Swimming Competition at the Shaw Memorial swimming pool in Dumaguete City.

Karen Mae Indaya continued to make a splashing performance by raking in nine more golds. She was unstoppable in the 25m and 50m freestyle as well as in the 50m butterfly, backstroke and breaststroke events in the 6-under class.

Thus, Indaya raised his output to nine golds to lead UC-BM’s quest for supremacy.

Jeffrey Yana, on the other hand, grabbed two more golds via the 100m butterfly and breaststroke events in 15-17-above class, while Marlon Galo bagged a gilt in the 100m breastroke.

The Navarro siblings also kept their presence felt by adding a gold, nine silvers and three bronzes combined to UC-BM’s title quest.

Anthony Linn Navarro got a gold in the 50m action of the 9-10 class plus three silvers, his sister Lih Ann took three more silvers and two bronzes, while the younger Anthony II netted three silvers and a bronze.

Noel Cañeda added three silvers and a bronze, Paula Vega a silver and two bronzes, Beverly Vasig a silver, and Mary Arlette Baler two bronzes.

Overall, UC-BM now stands with 19 golds, 23 silvers and 18 bronzes to bolster coach Rolando Alvarez’s aim of landing into the top three overall in the Philippine Amateur Swimming Association (PASA)-sanctioned tilt. — Caecent No-ot Magsumbol
