2007 MS Motosuit Motocross Series: Liloan to host kick-off leg

- Caecent No-ot Magsumbol -
After enjoying tremendous success during the inaugural staging of the MS Motosuit Motocross Series last year, a more exciting showdown looms large in the horizon as the 2007 edition of the region's biggest motocross tilt fires off this Sunday at the Wagas racetrack in Sitio Tuburan, Liloan.

Businessman-sportsman Lou Ornopia, the man behind the event and owner of MS Motosuit that sells top quality motorcycle parts and accessories, said the good turnout of their sales and the overwhelming outcome of their maiden offering encouraged him to continue holding the multi-leg race.

"I am inspired. My business is doing good, the media is supporting me and the riders are also cooperating very well. Above all, the host of the different legs last year and our sponsors have assured their support again, so we're continuing this event," said Ornopia during the weekly SCOOP-Cebu forum yesterday at Baseline Restaurant.

Ornopia said they have already learned from their mistakes during the inaugural series and that he looks forward to a better season that will feature no less than 12 legs spread in different areas of Cebu.

"If last year we had 11 legs even if we started the series in the month of April, how much more this year that we're starting early. For sure, our riders will be very happy about this," Ornopia said.

The first leg's host and organizer, the family of motocross rider Clark Wagas, is just as excited as Ornopia.

Even if the competition coincided with the grand Sinulog mardi gras, the organizers are still counting on a huge turnout of entries and spectators because the people in the said area celebrates their annual fiesta on that day.

Some of the top riders in the different categories will either be moving to a higher category or just add one more class. The competitors are limited to see action in two classes only.

John Flores, one of the youngest participants, will stay in the mini class, but will also race in the beginner's production.

125 local enduro overall champion Bonnie Bustillo, beginner's open production top rider Norman Pautan and executives B titlist Nonoy Reluya will stay in their respective divisions with hopes of defending their titles.

Novice open production main man Donkey Sanchez will also ride in the again, but contemplates on joining another class.

Clark Wagas, on the other hand, yearns to steal the limelight as he races in the intermediate and novice production and possibly in the experts class if time permits.

Presented by MS Motosuit, the kick-off leg is also supported by Engr. Santos Pepito Jr., Vincent Franco Frasco, Brgy. Captain Francisco Comendador, Melchor Caesar Pepito, Nelly Bernardo Lopez, Norkis Yamaha, and Crispin Noval.

Aside from honing the skills of the local riders and giving entertainment to motocross enthusiasts, the event is also of noble cause as MS Motosuit is giving part of its proceeds to the needy ones.
