Sally Mae zeroes in no grandslam in Malaysia net

Sally Mae Siso is one win shy of a grandslam as she moves closer to another championship title in the girls 12-under division of the Perlis Milo Open International Junior Age-Group Tennis Championships 2006 in Matrikulasi Arau Perlis, Malaysia yesterday.

Also, Siso is in the doubles division finals with Neesha Menon.

The 12 year-old Siso of the University of San Carlos-South Grade School dumped Huynh Phikhanh, 6-3, 6-0, to secure a finals berth and a chance to snatch her third singles title after ruling the first leg in Selangor and the second leg in Penang.

The only stumbling block for the grandslam bid of Siso, who is sponsored by Osaka Iridology and Dunlop, is Korea's Choi Jihee, her opponent in the finals.

In the doubles competition, Siso along with Menon survived a tough match against Vietnam's Hyunh Phi Khanh and Nguyen Puken Ngan, 6-1, 3-6, 7-5 to enter the final round.

Siso and Menon's final opponent is still unknown as of presstime.

On the other hand, Vince Marc Tabotabo of Tuburan, who is supported by Cebu Governor Greg Sanchez, Tavos Sports and Accord Bank, along with Jurence Mendoza settling for a bronze medal in the boys 10-under doubles.

Tabotabo and Mendoza missed the finals after losing to Thailand's Yotsapat Thomraiang and Chanudom Wirivaiunvon, 0-6, 1-6.
