Don Bosco school head lauds PTCA sports initiatives

Fr. Eugene Maglasang, the school principal of Don Bosco College (DBC), lauded the efforts of the parents and the faculty for organizing a sports competition not only to keep them physically fit but also to foster camaraderie among each other.

Fr. Maglasang made the remark during the opening ceremonies of the Don Bosco PTCA Volleyball for Women at the new Don Bosco College gym in Labangon.

On the other hand, Fr. Randy Figuracion said pursuing victory with honor and playing not for winning but for camaraderie and friendship should be kept in mind by all the participants.

"Sports can bring us good values like teamwork. The sports and the playground of Don Bosco College is one of the centers for spirituality inside the campus," said Fr. Figuracion.

The program started with a traditional parade of the five competing teams and it was highlighted by the lighting of the ceremonial urn by two of the parents to symbolize the good start of the tournament.

For his part, BCTC- PTCA president Conrado Pono is counting on the cooperation of the PTCA, faculty and the administration to make the tournament "livelier and lovelier."

Pono announced that the women's volleyball games will be followed up by two more events namely basketball and tennis.

This will be the time for the men's to showcase their wares in the basketball while tennis will be set up for both men and women.

The PTCA officials were planning to add soccer games in their calendar of events, if time permits, since some of the men are busy with their respective work.

The games for the women's volleyball will be held every Sunday and will culminate on January 28 for the championship games, which will be held simultaneously with the school's Family Day.
