Penang open International Junior age-group tennis: Sally Mae enters semis; Tabotabo loses

Sally Mae Siso marched to the semifinals while Vince Marc Tabotabo was led to the exit doors in the Penang Open International Junior Age-Group Tennis Championships yesterday.

The top-seed in the 12-under for girls, Siso, continued to pounce on, convincingly winning her quarterfinal round match both in the singles and doubles event at the University Sains Malaysia tennis court.

Siso of the University of San Carlos South Grade School and supported by Dunlop and Osaka Iridology posted a 6-2, 6-2 victory over her doubles partner Neesha Menon.

Siso and Menon later advanced to the semifinal round after defeating Nur Alial Yans Dte Azman and Fasleen Ruslan of Perlis.

On the other hand, Tuburan's Tabotabo failed to advance to the semifinals in both the singles and double actions.

In the singles event, the Cebu vice-governor Greg Sanchez, Accord Bank, Tavos and the Tuburan Elementary School-supported Tabotabo failed to hang on against Korea's Cho Hyungin, 2-6, 1-6.

Tabotabo and Jurence Mendoza also ended their bid for a back-to-back victory after losing to two Koreans, 0-6, 4-6.

Mendoza like Tabotabo also lost his quarterfinal match opposite Lee Woo Young, 2-6, 5-7.

Vince Marc Tabotabo's father, Titus, who is accompanying his son in Malaysia, is hoping his son could bounce back in their next stop that is the Perlis International Junior Tennis Championships.
