Siso siblings lead Cebu conquest in Ozamis tennis

The Siso siblings has moved on after the death of their father and coach, Dino Siso as they collected several trophies in the Ozamis leg of the Milo National Age-Group Tennis Championships in Ozamis City the other day.

A few days after burying the ashes of their father in Ozamis, the hometown of their mother Sally, Sally Mae claimed two titles while her elder brother Niño claimed one championships and a runner-up trophy. Their elder sister Sallydine also went home with a runner-up trophy.

The country's top ranked netter in the girls' 12-under, Sally Mae was too much for Hazel Grace Ylizen, 6-1, 6-0.

She then defeated her sister Sallydine, 6-1, 6-4, in the finals of the girls' 14-under.

Niño, on the other hand, had to settle the championship game outside the court.

With the Cebuanos trying to beat with departure time of the ship back to Cebu, Niño gave the champion's trophy to Larry Antigua in the boys' 16.

Another "gentlemen's agreement" was reached between Niño Siso and Cyril Camporedondo.

Knowing that Camporedondo have not yet defeated Siso in any tournament, he conceded and gave the gold.

Lovelie Soquiño, who's family is also close to the Sisos, sealed the Cebuanos bid with a gold and a silver.

Soquiño of the University of Cebu won the 18-under title after she clobbered Nikki de Dios, but missed a double-victory after bowing to Honey Mae Gilles in the 16-under finals.

Meanwhile, Cebu's top senior tennis players will have their turn in Ozamiz City today when they compete in the 2nd Mayor Reynaldo O. Parojinog Sr. National Open Tennis Tournament.

The Cebuanos joining are Michael Quiñones, Adonis Lominoque, Ilak Tabura and Bo Alburo.

Quiñones, who is backed up by Mario King, is confident their group will be able to duplicate the achievements of their top junior netters.

The Cebuanos will be competing in the singles and doubles event against some of the top netters in the country.

The champion in the single's event will receive P40,000 as the cash prize and P18,000 for the doubles champion.

The runner-ups and the quarterfinalists will also get cash prizes.
