Alta Vista monthly medal: Solon tops February tilt

Enrico Solon, who was supposed to be a last-minute replacement for the Alta Vista team in the Philippine Airlines (PAL) Interclub in Davao City last weekend instead showed the stuff he is made of at home as he topped class A of the February Monthly Medal.
Solon bagged the lowest gross honors for the premiere handicap class with an even-par 72 strokes. Skipper Nestor Mendoza was about to call in Solon to fly to Davao City to suit up for Gene Aznar, who injured a toe in a freak accident.
Unfortunately for the club, the page where Solon's name is in the roster of club members could not be found, which would make him ineligible to play forcing Mendoza to stick with Aznar.
Fortunately for Solon, staying home proved worthwhile as he fired one-under-par 34 on the front nine and added a one-over-par 38 on the back.
Lowest net honors for class A went to Loloy Sabuga with a net score of 67 off a gross 78 while Glenn Sebastian finished as runner-up with a net 68 off a gross 79.
The lowest gross honors for class B went to Cristino Lim with five-over-par 77. The lowest net went to Boy Gonzalez with 67 while Owen Algoso bagged the runner-up honors with a net score of 69.
Alan Larot had the lowest gross honors for class C with 90 strokes. Alberto Solis had the lowest net with 71 strokes while Elmo Siap was the runner-up with a net 72.
The seniors' division title went to Benhur Salimbangon with a net score of 66 off a gross 82.
Tessa Ozoa, the general manager of the club, topped the distaff side with a net score of 69 strokes off a gross 102.
