USC hosts Swim for Malaria meet

The top swimmers of the Visayas Region will converge here as the University of San Carlos (USC) Swimming Team hosts the "Speedo's Swim for a Cause" Satellite Age-Group Swimming Championships on December 10 at the USC pool.

The one-day event will be held simultaneously with the swimming competitions in the cities of Manila, San Pablo and Olongapo for Luzon and Davao City for the Mindanao swimmers.

The results of the competition will be collated and the top three teams and outstanding swimmers in each of the venue will be recognized.

The proceeds of the event will be the contribution of Central Visayas to the fight against malaria in the World Swim for Malaria (WSM) Foundation.

The age groups set are 6 and under, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-17 and the 18 and above.

All the top three swimmers in each event will be awarded special WSM Commemorative medals while the fourth to eight placers will get ribbons.

Trophies for the Most Outstanding Age-Group Swimmers will also be given and an overall point team championship will be determined as the top three clubs will be recognized.

Special prizes for outstanding swimmers wearing Speedo suits will also be named. - Rafael S. Alas III
