Queen City U scores blowout in Aboitiz Cup

Nothing much happened in the 9th Aboitiiz Men's League yesterday except that victorious teams massacred their respective opponents in the tournament held at the San Roque field in Subangdaku, Mandaue City.

To record so far the most lopsided match, Queen City United (QCU) ruthlessly handed FC Inter Lapu-Lapu a 19-0 bashing in bracket A while University of San Jose-Recoletos Alumni registered an emphatic 15-0 over Danao FC.

In a terrific offensive display, the power trio of Air Force mainstay Marlon Rey Baring, Rene Menchavez and Adrian Caballero bolstered QCU's impressive triumph after posting four goals each.

Barely a minute gone by in the opening, Baring provided the spark as he immediately found a hole in FC Inter Lapu-Lapu's defense to put them ahead but the former Crazy Horse member Menchavez struck hot as he swiftly followed a minute after.

Caballero scored at the 9th minute before Baring connected again at the 10th minute. Baring also scored at the 67th and 86th, Menchavez completed his haul, pitching in at the 29th, 34th and 38th while Caballero posted at 16th, 17th and 62nd minute.

Aside from the teams top guns, Levi Bajarias also joined in the fray, adding two in the 85th and 89th FC Inter Lapu-Lapu absorbed its second lopsided loss.

Also scoring apiece were Titlo Vildosola at the 26th, Omar Lao at the 70th, Bryan Oriel at the 77th, Janjan Nacional and Wilfredo Caballero at the 89th and 90th minute, respectively.

In another stellar performance, Limar Baunsit unloaded five goals for USJ-R, while Dave Intong joined in the scoring spree with four goals.

Baunsit dished out at the 27th, 34th, 62nd, 80th and 82nd minutes, while it was Intong who broke the ice for USJ-R, scoring early at the first minute before sneaking in at the 38th, 53rd and 54th minute.

Not to be outdone, Jade Paghubasan belted a hat trick scoring at the 45th, 67th, and 72nd as it also drew scores from Jonathan Sollo and Robert Nicart at the 5th and 70th minute.

In the other game, Metropolitan FC logged its second consecutive victory at the expense of Cebu State College of Science and Technology, 5-0.
