UV-Mandaue, MCCNHS lead winners in Mandaue basketball, volleyball tourney

The University of the Visayas-Mandaue and Mandaue City Comprehensive National High School drubbed their respective opponents to lead the winners in the opening of the Mandaue City Comprehensive National High School over the weekend.
The University of the Visayas-Mandaue Campus dominated over Pakna-an National High School, 57-33, to spearhead the campaign in bracket A of the Mandaue City Amateur Basketball Association (MACABA) at the Don Gerardo Gym. Winning with UV-Mandaue in bracket A is Colegio dela Inmaculada Concepcion-Mandaue burying Royal Oaks International School, 68-26.
In bracket B, Don Gerardo L. Ouano Memorial National High School scored a big 75-44 victory over Samanthabadra Institute while Tipolo National High School defeated University of Cebu-Lapu-Lapu/Mandaue, 65-22.
Also, San Isidro High School drubbed Pagsabungan National High School, 46-27.
Over at the Mandaue City Comprehensive National High School (MCCNHS), the host team shamed its visitors in the Mandaue City Amateur Volleyball Association (MACAVA) games.
MCCNHS scored a twinkill, as its boys team survived a three-set thriller over Saint Louis School, 25-17, 25-27, 25-19 while its girls team easily disposed St. Louis, 25-5, 25-16.
Also pulling through with their first assignments are Cabancalan National High School over UC-LM, 25-7, 25-16, Pagsabungan NHS over Jagobiao NHS, 25-20, 25-20, Don Gerardo Ouano over Subangdaku NHS, 28-26, 25-15, UC-LM over UV-Mandaue, 23-25, 25-20, 25-21 and Cabancalan NHS over Jagobiao NHS, 25-6, 25-11.
In the distaff side, San Isidro defeated UV-Mandaue, 25-13, 25-19, St. Joseph's Academy beat Paknaan NHS, 25-15, 25-21 and CIC-Mandaue over UC-LM, 25-13, 23-25, 25-15.
During the opening ceremonies held September 30 at the MCCNHS gym, the beautiful Rothea Bernadette Colina of Royal Oaks International School was picked Miss MACABA 2005.
Her court includes first runner up Windy Ann Po of CIC-Mandaue and second runner up Barbeth Lobitania of Saint Louis School.
