Sarmiento wins Senior Golfers in Alta Vista

Renato Sarmiento of Cebu Country club shot one-over-par 73 last Friday to rule the 4th 2005 Senior Golfers Fellowship Tournament at the Alta Vista Golf and Country Club in Pardo this city.

Sarmiento's unmatched feat gave him the overall title of the 18-hole tournament hands down.

The title for the Young Seniors (55 to 60 years old) category went to Boy Alegre of the Mactan Coral Golf Club, who fired a net score of 62 strokes.

Danny Flores of the host club took the runner-up honors with a net 64 while Julius Neri, Sr. of CCC was third with his net 66.

The crown for the Mature Seniors (61 to 68 years old) class went to Rogelio Hamak of Alta Vista with a net score of 66 beating two others in the tie-breaker by virtue of having a better score on the final nine holes.

First runner-up for the division was Noburo Takahashi of CCC also with 66 while Ben Tio Peng Seng of Club Filipino, who also shot 66 was third.

Another bet from the host club ruled the Super Seniors (69 years old and above) category, Ben Villamor, who shot a net score of 66 also and likewise beating the other hopefuls by virtue of having the better score in the final nine holes.

First runner-up was Tony Tankaw of CCC while Alta Vista's Greg Gepitulan was third.

The guest division, for those who haven't made the 55 years old age requirement yet, had Alta Vista's Danny Reyes ruling the field with a net score of 62 off a gross 77. Mactan's Bonn Villanueva was second with a net 67 while Alta Vista's Rolando Alberto was third with a net 69. - NLQ
