Budlaan lupons top again

Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — Barangay Budlaan once again clinched the top spot in the 2025 Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards (LTIA) during the 1st Quarter General Assembly of the Liga ng mga Barangay Cebu City Chapter the other night.

This marks a continuation of Budlaan’s winning streak, having previously secured back-to-back victories at the regional and national levels in past LTIA competitions.

Budlaan’s lupong tagapamayapa, led by Barangay Captain Nerissa Antolihao, has consistently been recognized for its exemplary mediation and dispute settlement under the Katarungang Pambarangay system.

In 2024, Budlaan advanced to the national stage after besting other highly-urbanized city contenders in Central Visayas, pocketing ?300,000 for its outstanding efforts in resolving community conflicts.

Earlier, in 2022, Budlaan represented Cebu City in the national LTIA and landed among the top three Lupon performers across the country, further cementing its reputation as a model barangay for grassroots justice.

Its governance initiatives, coupled with its consistent LTIA performance, have made Budlaan a benchmark for barangay justice in Cebu City. Outside of this, Budlaan is also known for Budlaan Falls, a popular hiking destination. The upland barangay has nearly 9,000 residents.

Other barangays recognized in the 2025 LTIA included Sto. Niño (first runner-up), Bacayan (second runner-up), Guba (third runner-up), and Guadalupe (fourth runner-up), with several others named finalists.

Mayor Nestor Archival, who graced the awarding ceremony as guest of honor, highlighted the broader significance of Budlaan’s and the rest of the barangays’ achievement.

“This recognition affirms the vital role of our barangays in grassroots governance, peaceful conflict resolution, and strong community leadership. Daghang salamat sa inyong padayon nga serbisyo ug dedikasyon sa katawhan,” he said, urging barangay officials to continue working closely with the city on environmental protection and water sustainability.
