Romeo Marantal - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — A 50-year-old was arrested in Dalaguete town southern Cebu after allegedly pretending to be a doctor in order to work at the town’s rural health unit.

Antonio Jabonillo Alpechi alias "Yang", who is a licensed professional teacher and a resident of Seaside Baliwasan, Zamboanga City, was brought to the police station Wednesday afternoon by the human resources department of the municipality of Dalaguete.

According to Police Major Clemente Guieb Ceralde Jr. Chief of the Dalaguete Police Station, the HR Officer, Noel Taclob and his personnel brought Alpechi to jail after it was proven that the documents he submitted were fake.

Alpechi reportedly claimed that he studied medicine in another country and other prestigious Philippine universities, and was able to show documents, which was later proven to be fake.

Due to the ‘credentials’, Alpechi was hired and actually worked for the town for two days. He also allegedly has prescribed medicine to several patients.

Alpechi admitted that he does not have a license to practice medicine, but claimed he studied medicine.

Alpechi is currently held in the detention facility of the Dalaguete Police Station facing a case of Usurpation of Authority or Official Function.   ATO (CEBU NEWS)
