CEBU, Philippines — A 53-year-old unemployed man was stabbed to death by his neighbor while another man was shot dead by unidentified riding-in-tandem assailants in separate incidents in Badian town, Cebu and Lapu-Lapu City.

Alejandro Licanda was found dead Friday morning outside his house in Barangay Poblacion, Badian, bathed in his own blood after his unidentified neighbor allegedly stabbed him several times.

Licanda was last seen having a drinking spree with his neighbor Thursday evening.

Based on initial police investigation, the victim reportedly had a heated argument with his neighbor.

Senior Police Officer 2 Jeremias Elardo of Badian Police said Licanda died several hours before his body was discovered by his brother, Wenefredo Licanda.

Police refused to reveal the identity of the person of interest, saying it might hamper their investigation.

“Nagpaabot nalang ta nga naa’y witness para ma-file na ang kaso against the suspect. But na ta’y person of interest,” said Elardo.

In a separate incident, a certain Jeffrey Baguio succumbed to several gunshot wounds to different parts of his body.

He was shot dead by riding-in-tandem gunmen while walking on the sidewalk of M.L. Quezon Highway in Barangay Pajo, Lapu-Lapu City Friday night.

Police Officer 3 Marven Saraum of Lapu-Lapu City Police Office- Homicide Section said they have yet to determine the motive behind the killing.
