For Daanbantayan, Family of ex-vice gov gives aid
CEBU, Philippines - The family of the late vice governor Gregorio Sanchez Jr. brought relief assistance to typhoon victims in Daanbantayan town after their hometown, Tuburan, was spared from major damage caused by super typhoon "Yolanda."
Sanchez’ daughter, Provincial Board Member Grecilda "Gigi" Sanchez, led the family in distributing some housing materials in barangays Tinubdan and Agujo.
Gigi told The Freeman that around 500 households received 14 sheets of galvanized iron for roofing and two kilos of nails each.
She said it is their personal effort, as well as of her cousins who are abroad, to give assistance in Daanbantayan which was identified to be badly hit by the typhoon Yolanda.
"Even if outside my district, kaning personal note natong pagtabang goes beyond our line of duty," Gigi said.
Board Member Sanchez represents the third district of the Province of Cebu while Daanbantayan is part of the fourth district.
Sanchez said that they coordinated with Daanbantayan Mayor Augusto Corro as to which barangays they would distribute the housing materials.
Sanchez said that they would give to other affected areas as long as their personal resources permit them to do so.
"Nalipay ko sa among distrito dili ana ka badly damaged," she said.
