Consultations on "People's Budget" to start today

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu City government will start the “People’s Budget” consultations today at the Cebu Grand Convention Center.

The product of this five-day consultation will be used for the 2013 annual budget.

Starting today, barangay officials, representatives from the different sectors, department heads, public school heads, city officials and all those concerned will be asked to present their respective departments’ budgets.

For today, the Cebu City Public Information Office said upland barangays of Lusaran, Guba, Pulangbato, Adlawon, among others will be part of the consultation.

In the afternoon the academe will take the floor and in the evening it will be the chance of the business sector. 

On Wednesday barangays Tagbao, Pamutan, Tabunan, Kalunasan, Bout-taop, Babag, Sapangdaku, Sudlon 1, Sinsin, Sudlon 2, Toong, Bonbon, Buhisan and Pung-ol Sibugay will have the entire morning

Senior citizens, people with disabilities, farmers, fisherfolk and the rest of the marginalized sector will present their proposals in the afternoon. Religious organizations, judges and prosecutors, police, firemen and military will have the evening schedule.

On Thursday, barangays Carreta, T. Padilla, Talamban, Hipodromo, Day-as, Banilad, Lorega San Miguel, Apas, Lahug, Tinago, Kasambagan, Kamputhaw, Mabolo, Tejero, Luz and Zapatera will have the morning; and the transportation, labor, public utility vehicles, overseas contract workers, the urban poor and the vendors will have the afternoon slot.

On Friday, Barangays Cogon-Ramos, Parian, Sambag 1, San Antonio, San Roque, Pahina Central, Sto. Niño, Kalubihan, Calamba, Kamagayan, Ermita, Sambag 2, Sta. Cruz, San Nicolas Proper, Capitol Site, and Pahina San Nicolas are scheduled in the morning, while gender and development, organizations representing women, men, children, family, transgender and youth will take the afternoon schedule.

The evening slot will be for nurses, architect, engineers, sports enthusiasts and other professionals.

On the last day, Barangays Labangon, Mambaling, Duljo–Fatima, Basak San Nicolas, Pasil, Quiot, Suba, Basak, Pardo, Sawang Calero, Kinasang-an, Tisa, Poblacion Pardo, Punta Princesa, Cogon Pardo, Guadalupe and Bulacao are scheduled in the morning, while the afternoon will be devoted for plenary and consolidation of all the gathered information.  (FREEMAN)
