5,000 new One Cebu members in Moalboal

CEBU, Philippines - Governor Gwendolyn Garcia has sworn in yesterday around 5,000 household leaders in the southern town of Moalboal as members of One Cebu Party in preparation for the 2013 elections.

The group was led by Mayor Inocentes Cabaron, Vice Mayor Nelson Avenido, town councilors and all the 15 barangay captains.

Present during the mass oathtaking were second district Rep. Pablo “Pabling” Garcia; third district Rep. Pablo John Garcia, the party’s gubernatorial bet and his runningmate, former Danao City vice mayor Ramon “Boboy” Durano IV.

Cabaron in his welcome message stressed that the visit of One Cebu officials was just secondary to their main purpose of delivering services to the people of Moalboal.

The Garcias first distributed 8,642 sets of school supplies to public elementary and high school students at Moalboal Central School and office supplies for teachers.

They inaugurated the municipal birthing and health center funded by the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) of Rep. Pabling in the amount of P2 million and P1 million from the Provincial Government.

Cabaron enumerated before the barangays leaders some projects of the Garcias in their town which include road concreting, insurance coverage to barangay officials and volunteer workers, fishermen and farmers, electrification, senior citizen building and others.

“Hinaut nga ang atong panagkuyog magpadayun hangtud liwas sa eleksiyon,” Cabaron said. (We hope to be with you even after the elections.) Cabaron said that the gathering yesterday was just an initial one prior to the upcoming election.

Durano asked the people not forget their tandem with Pablo John the next election. Pablo John explained that One Cebu was created and owned by the Cebuanos unlike other parties whose leaders are in Manila.

Pablo John, in partnership with Durano, assured to continue the programs of Gov. Garcia for the development of Cebu Province.

While Pabling asked to support Garcia-Durano tandem, he also asked support for his reelection as congressman for third term and Gov. Garcia for senator.

As president of One Cebu, Gov. Garcia welcomed the new members of the party. “Panalipdan ta kining ato panaghiusa,” she said. (Let’s protect this unity.)

Garcia turned over P2.5 million worth of financial assistance to 15 barangays at P100,000 each and P1 million to the municipality for different projects.

The complete slate of One Cebu Party in Moalboal was also proclaimed yesterday as Cabaron for mayor and Avenido for vice mayor and the eight councilors are Yvonne Cabaron, the mayor’s wife; Lino Deniega, Pedro Abrenica, Albert Tabañag, Radyboy Tejero, Lito Sebumpan, Jinky Hanika and Dominador Balbuena. — (FREEMAN)
