Jilted man hurt, robbed girlfriend
CEBU, Philippines - It was supposed to be a romantic date at the Mountain View Nature’s Park in Barangay Busay, but a woman ended up being mauled, hacked, and robbed by her jealous boyfriend yesterday morning.
Leah, (not her real name) 36, who works at the Land Transportation Office was also stripped of her underwear by Marlon Rey Elbanbueña, 30, of La Paloma Subdivision, Barangay Tisa.
PO2 Alan Caumeran of the Motorcycle Response Unit of the Cebu City Police Office said that the couple spent their Friday night at the Mountain View Nature’s Park.
The couple allegedly enjoyed singing the videoke at the resort and was drinking liquor until yesterday morning. However, an argument happened between Leah and her boyfriend, who was already drank, at about 6:00 a.m. yesterday.
“Ang suspek nga hubog na, gi-recall ang ex-boyfriend sa victim nga kauban ra niya sa trabaho. Gidudahan siya na uyab pa sila, which was gi-deny sad sa babaye (the suspect who was already drank, recalled the victim’s ex-boyfriend and suspected that they are still having an affair but the victim denied),” Caumeran said in an interview with The Freeman.
The victim told the police that Elbanbueña suddenly hit her in the face prompting her to break up with him. Their companions who also spent their night at the resort witnessed the incident and helped the victim.
This allegedly irked the suspect even more. He took a bolo from his car and started hacking the victim. Leah sustained a superficial hack wounds in the left neck and on her wrist for trying to parry the attacks.
Discontented with what he did to his girlfriend, Elbanbueña stripped the victim of her underwear before speeding off with the victim’s bag. According to the victim, her shoulder bag contains P16,000 cash; an Iphone worth P36,000; cellphone worth P4,000; ring; and earrings worth P15,000 and P28,000, respectively.
The victim was taken by her friends to the Cebu City Medical Center. As of press time, the police are trying to negotiate with the suspect to surrender.
“Musurrender ra daw siya. Naa pa daw siya sa trabaho (He promised to surrender after his work),” Caumeran said. It was not known, however, what the suspect’s job was.
Caumeran said the victim is determined to press charges against her boyfriend. - THE FREEMAN
