CEBU, Philippines - A man stabbed his wife last Monday evening after she refused to save their relationship.
Police said Rodolfo Zafra, 40, of Sitio Cabreros, Barangay Basak-San Nicolas, Cebu City, and his wife, Anarien, agreed to meet at the Hidden Lodge, Cebu City, around 6 p.m. to talk about their relationship.
When Anarien refused to give their marriage another chance the suspect allegedly started banging his head against the wall.
Anarien tried to leave but the suspect grabbed her by the neck and stabbed her in the chest several times using a screwdriver.
She eventually escaped from him and sought help from a lodge room boy. The room boy brought her first to the Pari-an Police Station still bloody and later to the barangay hall.
Barangay tanods later went to the suspect's room in the lodging house where he was found still conscious and lying in his own blood after stabbing himself.
He was rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center and was said to be in critical condition as of last night.
The police are preparing charges against Rodolfo for frustrated murder.
