Couple loses valuables worth P10,000 to burglars

CEBU, Philippines - An American national and his wife lost their valuables worth P10,000 after burglars broke into their house in Block 1 New Orleans St., El Monteverde Subdivision in Barangay Lamac, Consolacion last Tuesday dawn.

PO2 Jhonaskie Romero of the Consolacion Police said the couple, Terry Dale Davenport, 59, and his wife Lucila, was sleeping inside their room when they were awakened by their alarm system sounding off.

They immediately suspected that someone had entered the house and discovered subsequently that they had lost a mobile phone worth P5,000, a Masonic gold ring worth $100, and a school ring worth $70.

Romero said the burglars possibly entered the house through the sliding window. Once inside, it was easy to enter the room where the valuables were kept.

"Sirado man ang bintana, giligwat pag-abli kay didto may marka," Romero said.

Romero said it was not the first time burglars have broken into the couple's house. The first incident reportedly happened last year although the couple could not pinpoint all the items that were lost. What is interesting though, Romero said, is that another Masonic gold ring was also stolen at that time.

"Possible mao ra ning naglungkab but kinahanglan pa gyud ug concrete evidence kay wa ma'y witness," Romero said.

The couple has a house help but dismissed the idea of an inside job. — Ria Mae Y. Booc/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
