CEBU, Philippines - A family lost more than P100,000 worth of valuables when burglars broke into their house in Barangay Poblacion Ward IV, Minglanilla at about 4:00 in the morning last Tuesday.
Luisa Guarisma, 44, alleged that they were asleep and failed to notice any suspicious sounds coming from the back portion of their house where the burglars entered.
Burglars successfully carted away assorted pieces of jewelry worth P60,000 along with a Nikon camera worth P40,000 and P8,000 cash.
SPO1 Renato Masangcay, Minglanilla police investigator, said that the four members of the family were sleeping in one room and left open the other room where the valuables were placed.
“Duha man kabuok ilang kwarto, atong higayuna didto ra sila sa usa ka kwarto,” Masangcay said.
Masangcay explained that burglars gained entry by jumping off the perimeter fence of the house and went directly to the back portion of the house where the comfort room was located.
The burglars then removed all jalousie blades from the window at the comfort room and got inside the house.
They then went to the empty room at the second floor of the house and took the said valuables.
Masangcay noted that burglars also took advantage of the heavy rain that day.
Police are suspecting that two persons were involved based on the execution of the burglary.
“If usa lang maglisod og bitbit sa dala, duha gyud ni sila,” he said.
He added that the burglars could be somebody the family knew because they were already quite familiar with the house and where the valuables were kept.
Authorities are conducting follow-up operations to identify and apprehend the persons involved. - THE FREEMAN
