PNoy due in Cebu today
CEBU, Philippines - President Benigno Aquino III will be in Cebu today to pay his last respects to the late Vice Governor Gregorio Sanchez, Jr. at the Crystal Palace in Nivel Hills, Lahug, this city.
Aquino and Sanchez both ran and won under the banner of the Liberal Party in last year’s national elections.
Ferliza Contratista, one of the staff of Sanchez told The FREEMAN that the president called the family of the vice governor after he learned of the death of his political ally.
The president is also set to visit today the wake of Calbayog Mayor Reynaldo Uy in the Province of Samar.
Uy was killed last weekend while attending a fiesta celebration in another place.He was also a member of the Liberal party.
Meanwhile, as per protocol, the police in Cebu will be on red alert for the visit of the president.
Sr. Supt. Melvin Ramon Buenafe, director of the Cebu City Police Office, said that they are ready to handle the tasks assigned to them. — with Niña G. Sumacot(FREEMAN)
