Abejo, MCWD to supply more water for Barangay Apas

CEBU, Philippines - Bulk water supplier Abejo Builders Corp. and the Metropolitan Cebu Water District will officially open today a water source site in Barangay Apas, Cebu City, that will supply 2.5 million liters or 2,000 cubic meters of water daily that will benefit residents of the said barangay.

ABC and MCWD entered a joint venture agreement last July 1, 2010. This is ABC's fourth agreement with the said water district.

ABC also supplies water to Talisay City (5,000 cubic meters per day), Consolacion town (7,000 cubic meters per day and in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City (2,000 cubic meters per day) through MCWD.

ABC still has pending negotiations with MCWD for another bulk water supply in Cabangcalan and Rizal St., Ibabao in Mandaue City, and in Pit-os, Talamban and Guadalupe in Cebu City.

MCWD General Manager Armando Paredes said that the bulk water they purchased from ABC is reasonable and “way below cheaper” compared to other bulk suppliers.

Under the agreement, the 2,000 cubic meters of water daily for barangay Apas will be injected at any point within MCWD's existing pipeline from the Camp Lapu-Lapu back gate to the Gaisano Country Mall, situated in the said barangay.

The said agreement covers a period of ten years. – (FREEMAN)
