Worker stabs two guards

CEBU, Philippines - Two security guards were seriously wounded after they were stabbed by a construction worker at Nivel Hills, sitio Tangkili, barangay Busay, Cebu City yesterday morning.

The guards caught the suspect allegedly stealing construction materials from the area.

Victims Ranillo Paran, 30, native of Naga, Cebu and Junnifer Singson, 32, of barangay Baring, Carmen were rushed to Chong Hua Hospital.

Police investigation disclosed that while Paran was preparing himself for duty at the construction site, he saw Giovanni Quijano, a construction worker, went inside the restricted area where the construction materials were placed.

Paran followed Quijano and told him not to go again near the construction materials. Paran immediately reported the incident to Singson, who was the guard on duty, and asked him to hold Quijano for questioning.

But Quijano suddenly pulled out a batangas knife and attacked Paran.

Paran sustained stab wounds at the left side of his stomach and at his back.

Singson tried to restrain Quijano but he was also attacked. He suffered from a wound at the left portion of his waist.

The other workers rushed them to the hospital for treatment.

SPO1 Adelino Denoy of the Cebu City Mobile Group (CCMG) -Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) responded to the area but Quijano was no longer there.  (FREEMAN)
