Barangay in Consolacion impatient about road plan

CEBU, Philippines - Officials of barangay Tayud in Consolacion town will send a formal request to the Department of Public Works and Highways in Central Visayas to inquire about the status of the proposed widening of road that stretches from Cansga Bridge up to Liloan, the span that form part of the Cebu North Coastal Highway.

Barangay Tayud captain Blessilda Villo told The FREEMAN the people in her barangay and in neighboring barangays want the project implemented early so that vehicular traffic can flow smoothly.

Villo said the completion of the Cansaga bridge is most welcome but the bridge would be useless if the existing road from Tayud to barangay Poblacion in Liloan town remains narrow.

She said private owned vehicles and big trucks bound for northern Cebu use the Cansaga bridge, passing through her barangay.

"Sa pagka karon naproblema gyud ta sa traffic kay dili pa man lapad kining atong dalan ilabi na gayud nga naa pa sad mga tricycle nga nagbiyahian," Villo said.

Villo said the Department of Public Works and Highways has completed its plan for the widening project in the area but she wants to know the road plan is being pursued.

"Gusto ta masayod kon asa na karon ang maong plano," she said. — THE FREEMAN
