Gun club distributes goodies to inmates

CEBU, Philippines - As part of its community outreach project, the Cebu Talisay Aqua City Gun Club Inc. the other day distributed Christmas gifts to the inmates of the Talisay City Rehabilitation and Detention Center.

Former vice mayor Aberdovey Belleza and gun club president said that being their neighbors, they always give something to the inmates every December.

The gun club's firing range in the mountain barangay of Maghaway is adjacent to the city jail compound.

This is the fourth year that Belleza's group has distributed rice, canned goods, dried fish, noodles and eggs to the city jail inmates.

At least 329 inmates staying in the facility's seven cottages will receive gifts, said Belleza.

The facility has constructed a bungalow-type of house or what they term there as "cottage."

Each cottage accommodates about 50 inmates.

Meanwhile, the club, which has more than 100 members of whom some are public officials and businessmen, is also set to give school supplies to some public school-children, said Belleza. (THE FREEMAN)
