CEBU, Philippines – A 20-year-old laborer died after an unidentified man shot him in Barangay Mambaling late Monday night.
Lucky Martinez, a resident of Barangay Taboan, died of several gunshot wounds in his head and chest.
Investigation showed that the victim was eating banana cue in a stall at Sitio Plastikan around 11 p.m. when the unknown assailant appeared and shot him twice.
The victim managed to run towards an alley to evade further attacks but the gun-man chased him and shot him four times more.
Responding policemen saw Martinez lifeless in an alley. His wounds in the head and chest were believed to have caused his instant death.
His cadaver was taken to the St. Francis Funeral Homes for autopsy.
PO3 Wetzel Berry of the Homicide Section said they are still trying to determine the motive behind the incident.
Meanwhile, 31-year-old Gerardo Adale was injured after he was also shot by two unidentified men in Cabreros St., Barangay San Nicolas last Monday afternoon.
Investigation showed that Adale, a resident of the place, was driving his motorcycle towards a carwash at around 3 p.m. when two unidentified men riding another motorcycle appeared.
The backrider shot him. The gunman was described as tall and was wearing a helmet, a blue and yellow Kawasaki sweat shirt and jeans.
Adale was hit on his right leg and was taken to the St. Anthony Mother and Child Hospital for treatment. He was later transferred to the Cebu City Medical Center.
The perpetrators remain at large.
Two empty shells and a slug of a caliber .45 pistol were recovered from the crime scene. (FREEMAN)
