Burglars flee with Japanese national's P19T cash, valuables

CEBU, Philippines - A Japanese national lost his P19,000 cash and some valuables after an unidentified person burglarized his apartment in Barangay Ibabao Agos, Lapu-Lapu City shortly before midnight Friday.

Police said Shimazaki Motohita, 55, single, a native of Japan, rents an apartment in Bougainvillea Village in Barangay Agos.

In a report over DySS, Motohita allegedly left his apartment around 10 p.m. and returned before midnight only to discover that his window grill was destroyed.

It was learned that the perpetrator bended the iron grill wide enough for him or her to pass through it.

Motohita said his expensive laptop and cellular phone were missing and his cash amounting to P19,000 placed inside his drawer was also nowhere to be found.

The incident was immediately reported to the police, who, until now, still have no idea on the identity of the perpetrator.

Motohita believes the burglary happened around 11 p.m. while he was not around.

The Lapu-Lapu City Police Office has been reminding the public to be extra vigilant especially that it is the city's annual fiesta. Robbers and other criminals are expected to flock the city during this season. (FREEMAN)
