CEBU, Philippines – Transport experts from the 10-members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations will gather in Cebu starting today for a week-long event that would tackle different issues concerning transportation.
Rolly Chicano, public information officer of the Department of Transportation and Communication said that the event will run from October 11 to 15, 2010 at the Crown Regency Hotel in Cebu City.
Chicano said that as of 5 p.m. yesterday, a total of 84 delegates from the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Myanmar, Cambodia, Lao and Vietnam have already registered to attend.
Chicano said that during this week-long event, three meetings will be held such as the 8th Technical Working Group-ASEAN Federation of Forwarders Association, the 2nd ASEAN Transit Transport Coordinating Board meeting and the 20th ASEAN Transport Facilitation working group meeting.
Among the topics to be discussed during these meeting are the implementation of the measures of the transport agreements; the transport facilitation agreement on facilitation of goods in transit; and the transport facilitation agreement on multi-modal transport. (FREEMAN)
