Nursing student hurt in burglary, attempted rape

CEBU, Philippines – A 20-year-old nursing student suffered injuries in the head and body after an unidentified man went inside her room and tried to rape her before taking away her things in Sitio Katangkungan, Barangay Sambag I yesterday dawn.

Relia Mae Abao Gadgode, a native of Camiguin Island, is currently recovering from the wounds she got when she tried to free herself from the robber-rapist.

The police learned that she was asleep inside her rented room along Aznar Road at around 1 a.m. when a man, armed with a knife, passed through the ceiling to go inside unnoticed.

The victim woke up as the man pointed the knife at her neck. He took her two Nokia cellular phones, one worth amounting to P5,000.

The man fled through the ceiling.

The girl lost her jewelry and cash amounting to almost P100,000 in Barangay Camputhaw.

The girl was on her way home when a woman, who introduced herself as Melody Mativo, befriended her and pretended to be a relative of her mother.
