CEBU, Philippines – Municipal officials of Consolacion, alarmed over the presence in the town of alleged members of fraternities who are recruiting high school and college students, are asking the town police chief to post one policeman at the Consolacion Community College.
Councilor Illuminado Alin, chairman of the committee on police, said he has received reports that members of fraternities frequent the area at night where the college is located.
In last Wednesday's regular session, Councilor Alin said there is a need for the police and barangay officials of Barangay Nangka and neighboring barangays to address the perceived problem.
Alin has introduced a resolution requesting the town police chief to assign one policeman to monitor the place with the support of barangay tanods of Nangka, Pitogo, and Jugan.
Alin also requested the barangay captains of Nangka, Pitogo, and Jugan to assign at provide one barangay tanod to assist the police.
He said that he also received reports of the snatching incidents at the vicinity of the Consolacion Community College victimizing the students. (FREEMAN)
