CEBU, Philippines - Two farmers, who both bore gunshot wounds, were found dead in separate places in Cebu City and Carmen town.
In the first incident, the lifeless body of Joel Nuñes, 34, was seen lying on the ground with multiple gunshot and hack wounds in the different parts of his body in Sitio Lower Roosevelt, Barangay Busay, Cebu City yesterday morning.
Julito Camanse, 27, also a farmer and neighbor of the victim, reported that he found Nuñes on the ground already dead.
Cebu City Police Office - Homicide Section are still conducting further investigation for the possible identification of the suspect and the motive of the killing.
In Sitio Palo Maria, Barangay Lower Natimao-an, Carmen town, residents discovered the dead body of Terecito Cruz, 53, around 4 a.m. last Thursday.
The victim died from fatal gunshot wound to the chest by the use of still undetermined caliber of firearm.
Initial investigation conducted by Carmen Police Station disclosed that prior to the discovery of the body, residents of the place heard two bursts of gunfire and minutes later, they saw Cruz lying on the road already lifeless.
Cruz sustained a gunshot wound to the chest that police believed caused his instantaneous death.
Police recovered from the crime scene one empty shell of caliber .38, and one empty shell and three live ammunitions of .357 homemade revolver.
Police remain clueless on the identity of the suspect and the motive of the crime. — THE FREEMAN
