Jealous man stabs fisherman with fork

CEBU, Philippines - Jealousy has prompted a 60 year-old fisherman to stab a fellow fisherman in barangay Bunakan, Madridejos, Cebu.

The 24 year old Mero Sarabia suffered injury on the left side of his stomach after Raul Suela Villafranca stabbed him using a fork the other afternoon while having a drinking session with his friends.

Villafranca allegedly got jealous with Sarabia after the latter was seen flirting with the suspect’s 50-year old wife in the past days.

Initial investigation conducted by the Madridejos police station revealed that both the victim and the suspect were drunk when the stabbing happened.

The investigation also showed that the suspect was already planning to confront the victim that day but because of the influence of liquor he was not able to manage his anger. The suspect allegedly searched for any sharp object before the stabbing occurred but he only saw the fork.

Villafranca grabbed it and immediately stabbed the victim without any provocation.

The victim was immediately brought to Bantayan District Hospital for treatment while the suspect was arrested and is now temporarily detained in Madridejos police station. — Mylen P. Manto and Mellanie Joy C. Rosales, CNU interns/FPL
