Rep. Gullas distributes PCs

CEBU, Philippines - In a bid to continue to provide better education to public school children, first district Rep. Eduardo R. Gullas the other day distributed at least 37 brand new computers to the district’s six local government units.

In his speech during the brief ceremony at the University of the Visayas, the veteran congressman told the public teachers who came to receive the donation that it has always been one of his priorities to improve the education system of the district.

For the last years that he has been a congressman, he said that almost all barangays of the first district have their own elementary schools already, while national high schools have been put up even to the upland villages so that children there would not have to climb up and down just so they get high school education.

Gullas said he is doing this for the love of teaching, being a teacher himself in the family-owned UV.

“You teachers are my soul mates in public service. Hopefully, after my stint in the government I’ll go back to teaching,” he said.

Gullas is seeking for his third and last term this coming May 10 polls.

San Fernando town’s twelve public schools received 12 computers each from the congressman, while Talisay City and its neighbor Minglanilla, were given two and six units apiece, respectively.

The computer for Talisay was for the office of the Department of the Interior and Local Government which holds office at the city hall in barangay Lawaan I.

The cities of Naga and Carcar also got six computers each, while Sibonga town has now two computer sets for its Sibonga Central School and the newly opened Sibonga Community College.

Apart from the Central Processing unit and an LCD flat screen monitor, each computer comes with a printer, headset, a keyboard, speakers, and a mouse.

Gullas said some of the computers were sourced out from his friends in the government, while the rest was funded by his Priority Development and Assistance Fund. – Liv G. Campo (FREEMAN NEWS)
