CEBU, Philippines - Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia said the One Cebu Party was not mistaken in deciding to support the Suezos in Tuburan town.
Speaking before women’s groups in the different barangays in Tuburan, Garcia said the One Cebu Party decided to support the leadership of Mayor Constancio Suezo III and his wife Rosemarie because they believe in their leadership.
Garcia admitted that in 2004 and 2007 she and the Suezos were in opposite camps yet she saw how good leaders they were in Tuburan.
“Karong 2010 nakita nako ug sa One Cebu Party nga wala kita masayop sa pagpaluyo sa liderato sa mga Suezos sa lungsod sa Tuburan,” Garcia said.
The decision of Governor Garcia and One Cebu Party to accept the camp of Suezo was cited as the main reason by Vice Governor Gregorio Sanchez Jr. why he bolted the party and joined the Liberal Party.
Sanchez and the Suezos are not in good terms.
Sanchez announced his support for businessman Democrito “Aljun” Diamante who is challenging the mayoralty bid of Vice Mayor Rosemarie Suezo who is now seeking the mayoralty post.
Tuburan Mayor Constancio Suezo III is running for councilor this coming May 10, 2010 local and national elections.
Garcia also asked the people of Tuburan to be vigilant against those who are strangers in the town as they may make trouble this coming election day.
She also promised to makes changes to improve the lives of the people of Tuburan.
