5 hurt in SRP collision

CEBU, Philippines - A prime mover rammed into the rear part of Nissan Super Saloon car on their way to Talisay City at the South Road Properties (SRP) yesterday afternoon, resulting in the injuries of at least five people, including the drivers of both vehicles.

According to the initial report, the two vehicles were heading towards the corner of Bigfoot International at the SRP when the Nissan car, with plate number GXG-559, was bumped by the prime mover with plate number GXV-559.

Because of the impact, the Nissan vehicle swerved to the opposite lane while the prime mover veered to the right side of the road.

The back part and the side of the Nissan was severely damaged after it also hit the “no U-turn” signage.

SPO1 Pablo Mazo, traffic incident investigator of the Cebu City Traffic Division, suspects the prime mover was overspeeding and its driver may have not controlled the brakes.

Mazo said that the accident injured the drivers of both vehicles—Porferio Masangkay, 68, the driver of Nissan vehicle, and Vicente Gentallan, 38, driver of the prime mover.

Three passengers of the prime mover who were also hurt were Allan Mancia, 24; Rito Cabornay, 38; and Felfi Bragat, 33. All those injured were taken to Cebu City Medical Center for treatment.

Mazo said Gentallan will be charged with reckless imprudence resulting to serious physical injuries and damage to property. — Marjun A. Baguio, University of Cebu Intern/WAB   (FREEMAN NEWS)
