More policemen sought to curb illegal drugs trade in Talisay City

CEBU, Philippines -  Provincial Police Director Jesus Gaquing has requested for an additional platoon of police personnel in Talisay City to focus on the illegal drug problem there, particularly in barangay Tanke.

Barangay Tanke has since been tagged as the haven of illegal drug trade in the city.

Gaquing said he has spoken with Talisay City Mayor Socrates Fernandez on the matter and the mayor reportedly has no objections on the request. Gaquing said the additional personnel will compose a tax force that will focus on curbing the illegal drug problem in the city.

Gaquing said he already sent a formal request PNP regional headquarters and that he is optimistic the request would be approved.

“Ang exit ug ang entry jud ana ang atong butangan ug mga PNP personnel nga mao nay mu-man para gyud nga ma-minimize ang drugs ug mahimo, mawala na jud na,” Gaquing said.

Gaquing said the anti-drugs group will be named, “Tanke Anti-Illegal Drugs Task Group.”

“Kay kung ang organic police sa Talisay imong gamiton, maapektuhan sad ang ilang serbisyo sa uban kay dili raman mao na amo sang gitan-aw. Naa paman say uban nga mga panghitabo,” Gaquing said.

Should his plan works, Gaquing said the initiative can be extended to other areas in the province besieged by illegal drugs. — Gabriel C. Bonjoc/JMO   (THE FREEMAN)
