Carbon police chief moved to mobile group

CEBU, Philippines - Controversial Carbon Police Station chief Patrocenio Abesia was relieved from his post and was transferred to the Cebu City Mobile Group.

City Police Director Patrocinio Comendador was quick to say, however, that Abesia’s transfer was due to health reasons and has nothing to do with the issues of mismanagement he is currently facing.

Comendador said that with his illness, Abesia’s transfer is just timely considering that he is already about to retire.

In fact, Comendador said that Abesia’s transfer to CCMG has already been finalized when the issue on gasoline purchase surfaced.

Earlier reports had it that last August 3, one of Abesia’s personnel at the Carbon Police allegedly asked a complainant in a theft case to buy gasoline for the patrol car used in transporting a suspect to court for the filing of the case.

The police station reportedly failed to process its gasoline voucher with the city government for their patrol car.

Comendador clarified that the investigation on the issue will continue despite Abesia no longer with the Carbon Police Station.

With Abesia out, his then deputy Insp. Henry Eguia will become officer-in-charge of the Carbon Police Station. Comendador said the new station chief will be known after a week. — Niña G. Sumacot/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
